ACA Convention - San Antonio, January 28-February 2, 2011

;

The ACA winter conference, January 28
to February 2, was held in San
Antonio. ACA students from around the
country came to present papers, network,
and mix with correctional and other
professionals for a few days of learning,
laughing, and networking. Here are a few
highlights of events.

The ACA approved three new students
chapters at the convention: Concordia
(Chicago), Clayton State University
(Georgia), and SUNY/Albany (New York).

The students are looking forward to
the ACA meeting in Kissimmee in August
and to the student poster session.

Here are a few of the student highlights from the convention:

A few of the highlights included student chapter members from Texas and Illinois presenting in sessions and discussing their topics with audience members afterward. The sessions were well-attended by students, and the intereaction continued at receptions, dinners, and other events. The Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College brought down a dozen students, and three new student chapters were recognized (Concordia University (IL), Clayton State University (GA), and SUNY/Albany). Perhaps the highlight, for some, was the blizzard that restricted travel back home, which required some participants to leave early and others to be stranded in San Antonio for several days. As a consequence, many of the photographs were lost, so what is presented here is just a brief snapshot of the action. The climate in Kissimmee in August will likely be far more hospitable, but San Antonio was action-packed, and most of the students will return in August.
