ACA Convention - Phoenix - January 20-25, 2012

;

Although there was no poster session at
this conference, about 40 students
representing six schools in the U.S. and
Canada attended The ACA winter conference
in Phoenix.

The ACA approved Arizona State University
as a new student chapter, and ASU hosted
the Saturday evening "Meet-and-Greet" at
Majerle's, a popular Phoenix restaurant.

At left, students from Wisconsin and
Illinois socialize in the exhibit hall
where the vendors display their wares.

A FEW CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Students from Arizona State played host to students from two schools from Wisconsin, two from Illinois, and from The University of Regina, in Canada. Although there was little free time during the days because of numerous prison tours and workshops, there was time in the evening for dinners, receptions, and latE-night networking with new acquaintances. The Meet-and-Greet kicked things off on Saturday, and all schools were represented. The highlight of the tours was probably the Maricopa County Jail, or "Tent City." SAC students organized a workshop on "Professionals, Employers, and Students: Mentoring for the Future," with a packed room. Here are a few preliminary pictures, with more to follow in the next few weeks (click on pictures to enlarge):
