NIU American Correctional Association Meeting
September 20, 2011, 5 p.m.
I. Call to order: 5:05 p.m.
II. Roll Call: OFFICERS PRESENT:Courtney Hogan (President), Sean Carlon
(Treasurer), Samantha Brockett (Secretary), Jim Thomas (Faculty
co-advisor), Jack King (Faculty co-advisor)
MEMBERS PRESENT: 17 members
III. Approval of Minutes: (Not available)
IV. Officer Reports
A. Treasurer: As of now, there is about $430.00 in our account.
B. Summaries of spring out-of-state trips that we did last year,
including visits to Dwight, Stateville, Westville (in Indiana) and
Angola (La) for the prisoner rodeo.
V. Old Business
A. Discussion of selling t-shirts to help raise money for the
organization.
B. We also are looking for other ideas for fundraising as
top priority
C. We had a potluck last April at Sean's house and it was a
success. Potluck top priority so members can meet each other.
VI New Business
A. Jack King mentioned that there will be a pizza night to meet
the sociology faculty on November 3rd at Pizza Pros- Everyone of all
majors are welcome.
B. We want to do more tours this year. Possible Ideas that we
listed are Stateville (again), the Police Academy, Salvation Army,
Dupage. We also are going to Phoenix for the ACA conference.
C. Reynolds Wintersmith (Introduced by Jack King and speakers about
the case.)
