NIU American Correctional Association Meeting
October 27, 2011 (Potluck meeting)
I. Call to order- 8:05pm
II. Roll Call: Courtney Hogan (President), Sean Carlon (Treasurer),
Samantha Brockett (Secretary), Jim Thomas (Faculty co-advisor), Jack King
(Faculty co-advisor). Members present: 16 members present
III. Approval of Minutes: (Not available)
IV. Officer Reports
A. Treasurer: As of now, there is about $430.00 for us to use in our
account.
V. Old Business
A. Discussion of selling t-shirts to help raise money for the
organization. This idea has been brought up in the past but hasn't been
done since 2005. Wayne is currently designing shirt ideas and will
present them within by the end of the semester.
B. We also are looking for other ideas for fundraising.

VI. New Business
A. Sociology week is November 1-3rd with events featured in the Holmes
student center. Flyers were sent out via email and will be featured on the
sociology website for those who are interested.
B. We are having a bake sale on Wednesday, November 9th from 8am from
3pm. We need people to do bake sale duty shifts. They are hour long shifts
and we need two people for each shift. Let Courtney know if you can help
with shifts or if you can help baking. We plan on baking different things
like puppy chow, cupcakes, dipped pretzels and many more.
C. Upcoming tours include Salvation Army, Dwight, Drug Courts.
Spring term requests include Chicago police academy, Cook County
Jail, Stateville, Angola, and over-night trips.
